Frequently asked questions

How do I back up my data?

With a free account in the app: Account & Backup on the home screen. The backup is available to everyone and costs nothing. It is the only way to take your entries with you to a new phone.

What happens to my data when I log out?

When you log out, your cycle and health data is removed from that device – this is intentional and protects you if someone else picks up your phone. Before that, Zahra backs it up to your account, so it is there again the next time you log in. Language, reminder times and app lock are kept.

Can I use Zahra without an account?

Yes, fully. Without an account all entries stay on your device only – but there is no backup, so they are lost when you change phones.

I forgot my app lock PIN.

For security the PIN is stored only in encrypted form and cannot be read or reset. The only way is to reinstall the app. If your data is backed up in your account, it returns after logging in again.

The Islamic calendar shows a different day than my community.

Zahra calculates the Hijri calendar mathematically. The actual start of a month depends on the moon sighting and may differ by one day. Under Settings → Islamic calendar you can shift the calendar one day earlier or later.

I am not receiving any reminders.

Check three things: is the reminder switched on under Settings → Notifications? Does Zahra have permission for notifications in your phone's system settings? And note that the entry reminder deliberately only runs around your period – from two days before it is expected until it ends. The rest of the month it stays quiet.

What is Zahra Plus and how do I cancel?

Zahra Plus is a subscription with four extra features: no advertising, a PDF report for your doctor, an app lock with PIN and multiple reminder times. The account backup is explicitly not part of it – it is free for everyone.

Purchase and cancellation run through your App Store or Google Play account: Settings → your name → Subscriptions. When the paid period ends, the app switches the Plus features off automatically. Your entries are kept.

How do I delete my data?

Under Settings → Data & privacy you can permanently delete all data at any time. You can delete your account together with the server backup under Account & Backup → Delete account. Uninstalling the app removes all local data anyway.

Does Zahra replace medical or religious advice?

No. Predictions for your period, fertile days and ovulation are calculated estimates from your entries and are not suitable for contraception. Notes on prayer, fasting, ghusl or istihadha are general information and do not replace religious advice – please ask scholars you trust.

Privacy

Your entries are sensitive health data. They are never sold and never analysed for advertising. The full privacy policy is available in the app under More → Privacy.
